I first learned about the Basque language, or euskara, at a young age. My interest was piqued when I discovered a language spoken in the mountainous border of Spain and France that had no connection to any other spoken tongue. When I heard the Basque language spoken, I became enamored by it. I decided to learn Basque, unaware of the struggles that lay ahead in my language learning journey. I faced obstacles such as verb order, ergativity, an endless sea of suffixes, and more. This was the first time I remembered feeling frustrated while trying to aprender vasco. However, you won’t have to go through the frustration I experienced. 'Basque-ing in Language Learning' explains the basics in a clear and straightforward manner, like a friend guiding you every step of the way. The book is also entertaining and full of references to Basque culture, history, and mythology. I have since published 'Basque-ing in Verbs' and 'Basque-ing Longer in Verbs.'
